On 22 August 2026, Rahul Gandhi brought Chhatron Ki Goonj to Pune, this time wrapped in the language of women’s empowerment and “smashing patriarchy.” Education, safety, jobs, property rights and equality all made the stage.

The rhetoric was bold. The record deserves the same scrutiny. Patriarchy is easier to smash in a slogan than within a political organisation, and Congress’s own record on women, power and representation makes Gandhi’s sermon worth examining.

So we stripped away the slogans and checked his major claims against the latest government data, official surveys and relevant research.
