The facts

1. The ratio may be possible when applications are compared with selections, but applications ≠ unique unemployed people. The same aspirant can apply for several examinations. It measures competition for government vacancies, not India's unemployment rate.
2. Central recruitment has also continued: around 12 lakh appointment letters had been issued through the first 18 Rozgar Melas, with another 51,000+ appointments announced at the 19th Rozgar Mela in May 2026.99
3. Nearly 17 crore jobs were generated between 2014 and 2024, compared with just 2.9 crore jobs created in the preceding decade, marking a massive expansion in employment under the NDA.100
