The facts

1. Privatisation of selected enterprises does not mean that government employment has disappeared. Since October 2022, around 12 lakh appointment letters have been issued through 19 Rozgar Melas, covering recruitment across Central Ministries, Departments, Railways, security forces, PSUs, autonomous bodies and Union Territories.56
2. Public Enterprises Survey for FY25 records approximately 15.42 lakh employees in CPSEs.57
3. New AIIMS, IITs and infrastructure institutions generate recurring demand for public doctors, faculty, engineers, administrators and supporting technical personnel.
4. Since 2014, India has established 7 IITs, 8 IIMs, 16 IIITs, 8 Central Universities, 2 IISERs, 1 NIT and 12 new AIIMS. Five new IITs are also being expanded to accommodate 6,500 additional students.58
