The facts

1. India is now the world’s second-largest mobile-phone manufacturer and a net exporter.
2. Mobile production rose 28-fold, from ₹18,000 crore in FY2014–15 to approximately ₹5.45 lakh crore in FY2024–25. Mobile exports expanded 127-fold, from ₹1,500 crore to ₹2 lakh crore. Smartphones became India’s largest export commodity in CY2025, valued at ₹2.62 lakh crore.46
3. More than 300 manufacturing units operate in India, supporting approximately 12 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
4. Indian textile and handicraft exports reached ₹3.16 lakh crore in FY2025–26, increasing 2.1%. Ready-made garment exports alone rose to ₹1.39 lakh crore, while export growth was recorded across 120+ destinations. Growth included UAE 22.3%, Japan 20.6%, Spain 15.5%, Germany 9.9% and the UK 7.8%.4748
