70% of state universities are without vice-chancellors, blocked by the Governor. This is the RSSification of universities.

The facts
Half-truths and inflated data are the prerogative of the Congress, as always.
The Congress sat in power for 55 years and changed every textbook as per its whims and fancies. It appointed and dismissed VCs across universities in India arbitrarily.231
The DMK government amended university laws to transfer appointment powers from the Governor to the state government.
Those amendments became the subject of a legal challenge.
In July 2026, the Tamil Nadu government told the Madras High Court that it could not proceed with appointments because of an undertaking given before the Supreme Court to wait until the case was decided. The government itself sought the High Court’s permission to proceed with appointments.232
This is the reality, and once again, the “RSSification of universities” line is becoming old and boring.
